LAW DEVELOPMENT
The Lands Department is currently undertaking the development of LNIB Laws. The Land Code allows Chief and Council to create a wide variety of laws effective on Lower Nicola Indian Band reserve lands. The process for making LNIB laws is described in Section 7 of the LNIB Land Code, and includes a proposal to Council, public posting, community engagement and consideration of members’ input, and approval by Council majority vote. LNIB Law development is driven by the need to address members’ issues in a fair and consistent way, by providing guidelines and processes for staff to follow.
If you would like to participate in the LNIB Law development process, we encourage you to:
- Review draft Laws posted here,
- Attend LMAC meetings for initial Law review, and
- Check the website and newsletter for community events!
